Hi All !
Nearly eight weeks of long evenings stalking eBay, Gumtree, PistonHeads, etc... reading up on the weaknesses, problems and newbie gotchyas... insurance quotes... driving hundreds of miles to inspect 'perfect', 'mint' and 'immaculate' offerings (sellers must have been blind !)... and now SHE is in my garage :)
1995 GPX Tip, Imperial Red, 85k. Cosmetics are great (apart from the yukky black alloys) and judging from a roadside inspection & long drive, in good mechanical health. Not perfect in every way of course, but isn't that part of the FTO experience ?
After a 130 mile midnight motorway run I know about the blowing front pipe flexi (jeeez!), the blocked screen washers, naff standard dips & u/s ICE (the sub in the boot HAS to go). Later today I'll take a deep breath, jump down the hole and have a good peek around. The last MOT advisory warns of iffy rear AR bushes, so that's a bit of fun to look forward to. Spanner & hammer on standby.
I still need a sensible workhorse though, so the Shuma [hangs head in shame] is now sulking in the yard.
The near timeless styling, the handling, the V6 music (despite that darned flexi)... luvinit all ! I recon 2011 is going to be a great year :)
If the weather holds this weekend I'll give her a good soaping, snap some pics & put them up.
