Hello Guys and Girls

Im Tony. Nice to meet you all. Just joined the site.

Well, I wanted to buy a FTO around 18 months back but didnt in the end due to lack of no claims and that. That interest died down until last week when I felt the urge to buy one so I won one on ebay. Only a cheap one just to test the waters for a better one.

So im picking up a GR tomorrow. I dont expect alot for £650 but it will tell me whether I like the car or not. Im sure I will but wanna make sure. I did ask a couple of questions before I bidded though so im happy so far.

Just fyi, I know next to nothing about cars. Have I made a silly choice for someone that knows next to nothing about car and that is extremely short on funds??? (mature student)

Ill be joining as full member shortly, cant go wrong with £18

Tony

Kool-Aid is in the Jugs in the back next to the coffee. First timers shouldn't drink the stuff on the right.

WTTC Tony. Can't wait to see your new P&J. There may be a few things up with it - remember she's not as young as she looks! Enjoy your GR. There's loads of advice on here and loads of help if you need to find anything including someone, local to you, for assistance. I hope there's nothing wrong with her and I hope we'll see you both at some meets.
I can't help with technical stuff (I blush a lot when talking about the car - what's a plenum? LOL) but I have lots of enthusiasm! Nice to meet you.

Welcome to the forum. You will love it or grow to love it...either way, I am sure you'll end up in the same place as us.

Less than a year ago, I picked up an almost gonna. The car was neglected for over a year sitting in the back yard of someones garden. He couldn't sell it in the state it was in so I made an offer. It couldn't be driven away due to the water pump leaking. Reading about this problem lead me here and discovered that I should have the cambelt changed at the same time as changing the water pump over but not every garage can change the cambelt (quad). Guys told me to go to Eurospec so I took the car there.

In the end, I saved another FTO costing about £1K including the repairs and parts needed to get through the MOT. She runs like a dream now. The engine was in really good shape so I was told by Eurospec.

Now just spending here and there to get her looking and performing at it's best.

must be an added feature, as mine has loads of added bits, central locking, passenger airbag, wind deflectors, all of which i believe to be added after market. :)
