hi guys ive just become the owner of a 1995 2.0l v6 fto with tiptronic that im gonna restore to its former glory as it needs some tlc "good thing is the engine has only done 71000 miles :D " but bits are as follows that i need a little help with.

!
1. The car has no keys and has a aftermarket immobilser so i removed the lock and removed the wires from the immobilser to the starter position on the block to the rear of the lock so that the car now turns over, however its still doesnt start and i cant hear the fuel pump "can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the ignition on, on an fto ???????????" also which wires on the fuel/sender are the main positive and negitive as there a few, just to see if i can directly wire to test.

2. The gearbox is stuck in park, does the engine need to be running to remove from park or could it be something to do with a cable that runs up the side of the ignition barrel???????? the car is stuck and i need to move it lol.
Sorry about any spelling mistakes or puctuation but im not to good at that im more of a hands on person lol. many thanks from a new fto man.:-D

WTTC

Most immobilisers immobilise two circuits. The starter circuit and the fuel pump circuit. So make sure you've bypassed both.

It's difficult to hear the fuel pump. Best thing to do is remove the rear seat pad (pull the two tabs at the front of the seat pad and it will just come away) and put your ear to the fuel tank inspection hatch.

You could also open the inspection hatch and apply +12v direct to the motor to see if that helps.

Welcome wingnut! On some, the ignition needs to be on position number 1 to release the gear lever from park, along with pressing the button on the top of the gear stick plus the footbrake. Alternatively if you need to move it sooner rather than later, undo the 12mm nut on the selector on the top of the gearbox in the engine bay to remove the cable and change the position of the metal selector with your hand. Just move it 2 clicks down from park to get it into neutral. Hope that helps.

oh great thanks for that. 1 other thing its also on a slight incline so if i remove the cable on the engine should i jack the front off to take the weight of the car off the gearbox??????

Yep you'll prob have to take the weigh off it or it probably wont come out of park very easily. Hope it does the trick for you.
