Because the FTO was not an official import outside of Japan and, at best, arriving only with a Japanese language operation manual, there became a need for reliable repair help and info for a growing number of UK FTO owners. 
As a grey import there was also a natural reluctance among the UK MMC Dealerships to offer service facilities or parts. 
Thus, the FTOOC was born. The Club became a self-help Forum as owners gradually fathomed the FTO's various mechanical and electrical operations. Many DIY Guides in circulation today are most probably sourced from over 20 years worth of our Club Archives - which are regularly added to, or updated, and can be quickly accessed within our Grease Monkey section.
